“Ice Cream” by BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez is the Sugar-Sweet Anthem You’ve Been Waiting For

The long-awaited BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez collab, “Ice Cream,” is finally here, and it was well worth the wait. The song is a perfect end-of-summer anthem - the artists treated their fans to a fresh, sugar-sweet bop! The lyrics are flirty and witty, yet bold - “I know my heart can be so cold / but I’m sweet for you, put me in a cone,” Gomez sings in the second verse. They’re also full of double meanings, “You’re the cherry piece, just stay on top of me,” BLACKPINK member Jisoo sings. While the majority of the song is in English, the BLACKPINK girls sing in Korean a bit in the bridge, as well as verse 3. The artists maintain a youthful tone throughout the song, and the melody allows them to show off their vocal ranges - each member is different, yet they all complement the song, like toppings on the ice cream. In light of the single, Gomez partnered with ice cream brand Serendipity to create her own flavor of ice cream, called Cookies and Cream Remix - like the art for the track, the ice cream is pink and vanilla. “Ice Cream” is the second single BLACKPINK has released off of their upcoming album: Blackpink: The Album .
