Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums Shares a Message of Positivity With His Debut Single "Head Up High"

Fitz of Fitz and the Tantrums has released his first solo single, "Head Up High." The single is a contagiously feel-good anthem with catchy melodies and lyrical hooks sure to be a confidence boost to all who listen.

The lyrics contain a message of positivity during a time where it seems to be hard to come by. "I get knocked down but I just keep my head up high, high, high," Fitz sings in the chorus. The track is acoustic-led and mellow in the beginning in the verses, a different feel from his band's typical sounds. However, the chorus is explosive in typical Fitz fashion, accented with vocal effects, heavy bass, and an ensemble of trumpets, which project power behind his sentiment. He explained a bit of backstory behind his intent - as an older artist in the music industry, he faced rejection throughout his young beginnings, and it wasn't until he was in his forties that his career with his band began to kick off. It was through his determination and keeping his "head up high" for 15 years that he finally started to make waves in the music industry that had left him, as he put it, "heartbroken" so many times before. After years of persistence and continuing to try again, he now has the opportunity to create his fifth album.

Just because Fitz is going solo doesn't mean he's leaving The Tantrums in the dust by any means - three weeks ago they played a show together at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, as well as a few other locations where social distance precautions were possible to uphold. "Head Up High" is his first solo single, and is to be featured on his upcoming debut album, set for release next year. While you wait, you can download and stream "Head Up High" everywhere now - be sure to check out the music video as well.
