Alicia Keys and Khalid are "So Done" In Hypnotic New Collaboration
This morning on August 14th, Alicia Keys released her much anticipated single featuring Khalid, titled "So Done". The ode to independence and self love was released as the first single from Keys' new album, ALICIA, set for full release in the fall.
The two R&B singers repeat the lyrics "I'm livin' the way that I want." Keys stated that the song is about "letting go of anyone else's ideas of how your life should look." The two hypnotic voices sing over simple electric guitar riffs and snaps, delivering on Keys' promise to put listeners in a "trance". The lyrics are sure to inspire anyone to rebel against the status quo. The accompanying music video features the musicians singing at a school dance scene, and actress Sasha Lane plays a young girl surrounded by her peers feeling out of place. By the end of the video, Lane joins a group of bikers who crash the dance and rides off into the night with them, finally living the way she wants.
In addition to working on her seventh studio album, Keys recently announced intentions of releasing her own beauty brand sometime within the next year. This is Khalid's first collaboration since he was featured alongside Swae Lee on Kane Brown's release, "Be Like That". Alicia Keys and Khalid's mellow, enchanting new single is available on all streaming platforms now.
